Atlantic City, NJ (May 26, 2015)– In the main event of an eight bout card at the new Claridge Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey, promoted by Marshall Kauffman’s King’s Promotions and Diane Cristiano’s Dee Lee Promotions, on Friday evening, May 22, 2015, Al Haymon super bantamweight Juan ‘Baby Tito’ Dominguez scored a second round stoppage of Mario Macias.

Dominguez, now 18-0, 13 knockouts, a Dominican out of Brooklyn, New York, made short work of Macias, now 26-16 with 13 knockouts, Iztacalco, Mexico. Power shots dropped Macias in the second round, who beat the count but then got finished by the accurate power punching Dominguez in a corner on the ropes. Fast and pinpoint perfect with his punches, Dominguez outclassed Macias, who was in shape but too slow on the ‘A’ level.

Larry Hazzard was back at ringside at the New Jersey State Athletic Commissioner. Lamont Peterson, Travis Kauffman and Jesse Hart were among those boxers at ringside. Al Haymon representative Marcus Watson was in attendance.

Result: Juan Baby Tito Dominguez TKO 2 Mario Macias, Super Bantamweights
Time: 2:19 of the second round. Referee: Earl Brown

In related Atlantic City dealings, Polo North Incorporated President and CEO Glenn Straub purchased the vacant Showboat Casino from Stockton University for 26 million dollars, giving the college an eight million dollar profit on the property they purchased, with an 18 month lease option to purchase or lease all of the property for educational purposes if they change their mind, and a 90 day option to back out. Stockton University President Herman Saatkamp resigned effected September 1, 2015 at age 72, unsuccessful in his goal of establishing a satellite campus for the school.

Straub recently purchased the adjacent Revel Hotel and Casino, and with The Showboat the combined properties would certainly change Straub’s architectural plan. Carl Icahn, who now owns both Trump Taj Mahal and The Tropicana, was opposed to have under 21 college students attending college on the boardwalk in vicinity of the Atlantic City casinos, and sought to enforce a 1988 covenant between Trump Entertainment and Caesars requiring Showboat to be a hotel and casino used for gaming purposes only. When Caesar’s sold Showboat to Stockton College in December 2014, the legal agreement stated Showboat could not be used as a casino again.

United States Bankruptcy Court judge Gloria Burns ruled Straub can terminate the leases of former business tenants in The Revel, including restaurants and nightclubs, and can renegotiate leases with former tenants to seek new tenants to rent available spaces if and when The Revel is reopened by Polo North in the future. Greg Reinert, a spokesperson for the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities, stated before Showboat’s power source can be used to power The Revel, the parties involved must register as a third party power supplier with the NJBPU. Power has gone off and on at Revel, and Straub fined, as developer Straub has been unable to reach a deal with ACR energy, who control the Revel power plant and provide utility service, over future payment assurances.

Straub bought Revel for $82 million in bankruptcy court, or four cents on the dollar. The Revel cost 2.4 billion dollars to build, and went broke twice before Straub purchased it.
