Carl Froch and Gennady Golovkin in Negotiations

London, UK (May 21st, 2015)– According to Froch promoter Eddie Hearn, he ( Carl Froch) is tempted to fight one last time for a big-money fight in Wembley stadium with Gennady “Triple G” Golovkin as his opponent.
Eddie Hearn told English media that talks have already begun between the two camps,stating to the Daily Mail “We have already opened negotiations with Golovkin’s people and they are very keen”. Golovkin’s K2 promoter,Tom Loeffler is also in compliance saying that GGG is willing to move up to 168 to fight Froch and the fact that Gennady doesn’t mind fighting opponents in their backyard.
Froch, who recently had his WBA super middle weight title stripped from him talked to the same media outlet about how he fancied his chances against the Kazakh KO king, “If I fight Golovkin I will back him up, take what he’s got and beat him up.” The Nottingham native’s last fight came last year against compatriot George Groves with a 8th round TKO in front of 80,000 fans at Wembley Stadium, but if talks follow through promoter Eddie Hearn is completely aware of the risk that Carl could face in front of home fans. “I only want Carl to take it f he’s genuinely motivated because it is a high risk fight. Golovkin is the most feared fighter in the world and Carl doesn’t need this fight, but he (Froch) says he is intrigued by how he would deal with him. He’s crazy that way.”
Gennady’s team had mentioned on several occasions that they would like to gain all the titles at 160, but if a lucrative fight at 168 came their way they would take it. GGG, recently coming off a 6th round TKO of Willie Monroe Jr. is known to walk around at the weight of 167 and feels no worry of diminish power by moving up.
Heading into the weekend there were also rumors of the winner of the upcoming Dirrell vs DeGale to fight Carl Froch seeing that both fighters have particular interest in the opponent, but Froch made it clear that he has no interest in either fighter.
