NEW MEXICAN RIVAL FOR MCWILLIAMS ARROYO IN “THE WAR” APRIL 11 AT THE COLISEO DE PUERTO RICO IN SAN JUAN

Puerto Rican contender McWilliams Arroyo will fight against another Mexican opponent in “The War” when he faces Ismael “Sapito” Garnica on Saturday, April 11, at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot in San Juan, Puerto Rico on the show presented by PR Best Boxing Promotions (PRBBP) in association with Zanfer Promotions, which will air on “Pay Per View” in Puerto Rico, United States and Canada for all Cable TV and Satellite systems.

Arroyo (15-2, 13 KOs) was to face former world champion Ramon Garcia Hirales in the card, headlined by the World Boxing Organization (WBO) junior lightweight champion, Orlando “Siri” Salido, and two-time former champion 130-pound WBO Roman “Rocky” Martinez, but Garcia Hirales group decided to take a fight in Mexico this Saturday and not travel to Puerto Rico for the April 11 bout.

“We had to find another opponent for McWilliams, since García Hirales decided to fight in Mexico and not come to Puerto Rico. It’s a problem we are facing that many fighters do not want to come to Puerto Rico after the things that have happened here, but we hope everything is fixed and to continue bringing quality opposition,” said Peter Rivera, vice president of PRBBP. “Garnica is another Mexican and a fighter who comes to fight, so it will be another war between Puerto Rico and Mexico.”

The fight between Arroyo, who is ranked #11 by the WBO and #5 by the International Boxing Federation (IBF) at 112 pounds, and Garnica (13-6-1, 5 KOs) will be a 10-round scheduled in the flyweight division. Arroyo, a former Puerto Rican Olympian, who comes from a close split decision loss last September 10, 2014, in Thailand against IBF champ Amnat Ruenroeng, was a gold medalist at the 2006 Central American and Caribbean Games in Colombia, at the 2007 Pan American Games in Brazil and at the 2009 World Amateur Boxing Championships in Italy.

Besides the Arroyo-Garnica clash, “The War” will have Siri Salido (42-12-2, 29 KOs) versus Rocky Martinez (28-2-2, 17 KOs), for the WBO junior lightweight belt, and the WBO Latino lightweight titlist Jose “Chelo” Gonzalez (23-1, 18 KOs) defending his crown against Mexican Marvin “Cachorro” Quintero (26-5, 22 KOs) to 10 rounds.

“The War” between Salido and Martinez will be broadcast on “Pay Per View” at $39.95 for Puerto Rico, United States and Canada on all Cable TV and Satellite systems.

Tickets for “The War” are availables at Ticket Pop calling (787) 294-0001 or accesing www.ticketpop.com. Prices are $30, $50, $100, $200 and $300.
