“Rowdy” Bec Rawlings RCM Interview

By Zach Heim, RCM MMA Correspondent

“Rowdy” Bec Rawlings will enter the UFC octagon as a contestant on season 20 of The Ultimate Fighter.  The Aussie will bring her 5-3 record with her as she enters the tournament to see who will be the first every UFC women’s Straw weight champion.  The women have showed they are not afraid of the lights so this should be not only a historical season of TUF as it is an all-female edition, but they put on great fights.

RCM: What first got you interested in MMA?

BEC:I originally started training to lose weight & fell in love with the sport & the culture.

RCM: How was fighting for Invicta and Shannon Knapp?

BEC: Fighting for Invicta FC was amazing 🙂 they really look after their athletes and it is very professionally ran, Invicta and Shannon felt like family!!

RCM: Did Dana White call you or did you have to try out for TUF 20?

BEC:I got the call from Dana White 🙂 it was very cool, I was so excited I nearly wet my pants 😉

RCM:Can you tell me if you have to fight to get into the house or are you already in?

BEC: No I am already contracted to the UFC along with the 10 other girls that were selected, they’re having open tryouts for the remaining 5 spots in Las Vegas on April 28th.

RCM: If you could choose what team would you want to be on?

BEC: Wow that’s a really hard question to answer because both coaches have so much to offer 🙂 but if I had to choose I’d say Gilbert Melendez because his fighting style suits mine and I heart the Diaz bro’s!!

RCM:Besides yourself, who do you expect to make it to the finals?

BEC:Another hard question to answer. TUF20 is made up of the best strawweights in the world that all have very unique fighting styles, its to hard to pick…

RCM:Have you had any trouble with anything with recently changing your name? (fans, promotions, etc…)

BEC:No not really, I guess some fans were a little confused to begin with and some media still call me Hyatt by accident but give it some time & everyone will forget the name Hyatt.

RCM:What has been your most memorable fight?

BEC:What did you learn from it? I think my fight against Carla Esparza for the Invicta FC Strawweight title, I feel I proved i was worthy of fighting for Invicta FC and definitely opened my eyes up to what I needed to work on to be the best.

I want to thank Rowdy Bec Rawlings for her time and wish her good luck as she enters the Octagon.  You can follow Bec on Twitter @RowdyBec you can also follow RCM Correspondent Zach Heim on Twitter @Zheim82
