JONATHAN OQUENDO SHOWS HIS CONDITION TO FACE THE MEXICAN GUILLERMO AVILA ON MARCH 14 IN KISSIMMEE, FLORIDA

GUAYNABO, PUERTO RICO- Puerto Rican Jonathan “Polvo” Oquendo showed his condition this afternoon for his confrontation against Mexican Guillermo “El Borrego” Avila on March 14, for the WBO Latino super bantamweight title, in a program to be held at the Kissimmee Civic Center in Kissimmee, Florida, in an All Star Boxing presentation, in association with PR Best boxing Promotions (PRBBP), which will be broadcast on Telemundo and its successful series Boxeo Telemundo Ford.

“I feel very good and very pleased with this new opportunity and to returned to fight in Kissimmee, where I debuted”, said Oquendo, who began his career in 2004 at the same venue where he will fight this time. “We are training hard to get back into a good position and get a world title chance”.

Oquendo (23-3 , 16 KOs), who came off a four round KO win over Mexican Miguel Tamayo on August 2013, worked today with his trainer Dennis Pantojaat the Felix Pagan Pintor Gym, where he worked on floor exercise several rounds of pads and some rounds with the speed bag and the punching bag.

“We are working comfortable, making weight since my last fight was at featherweight, but we’re good eating six times a day with three meals and three snacks, and working hard in the gym to get the best condition”, Oquendo said.

While, Avila (12-1, 9 KOs), knocked out Leonardo Cervantes in November 2013 after suffering his first defeat in September when he dropped in a unanimous decision against former world champion Wilfredo Vazquez Jr.

“I saw the fight between Vazquez Jr. and Avila and was a close fight, so I have to go in the best condition and for that we are working”, said Oquendo, who hopes to get away from this commitment to think on his future.

This will be the first All Star Boxing show this year on Telemundo and will feature other Puerto Rican fighters as the bantamweight Jonathan Vidal (17-1, 9 KOs ), who will face Antonio Tostado (12-1, 6 KOs) and undefeated Emmanuel “Pirata” de Jesus (9-0, 6 KOs).
