New York, NY (February 5th, 2014)– When Broadway Boxing matchmaker Joe Quiambao rocks, heads roll. Lou DiBella Entertainment will host the final boxing card at Roseland Ballroom on Wednesday, February 12, 2014, before Roseland is demolished in March 2014 to make way for construction of a new 59 story tower. Nine bouts are scheduled for the final Roseland card.
The main event featured Boyd ‘Rainmmaker’ Melson in an eight round light middleweight contest against Mike ‘El Congri’ Ruiz which promises to be an exciting thriller. Melson, now 13-1, 4 knockouts, a southpaw fighting out of White Plains, New York, will face the short but ferocious Ruiz, 17-8 with nine knockouts, a Puerto Rican fighting out of Long Island, New York. Ruiz has a deceiving record and could give Melson big trouble. Ruiz’ last two bouts in 2012 and 2013 were against world ranked fighters. Ruiz retired former welterweight world title challenger Paul Delgado by a tenth round stoppage in an upset in 2012, but lost an eight round majority decision to world ranked Charlie Ota in 2013.
Universal Boxing Federation International Female Super Bantamweight champion Heather Hardy will appear in an eight round bout which is the preliminary to the main event. Also scheduled to appear will be: light middleweight Emmanuel De Jesus in a six rounder; light heavyweights Joe Smith Jr. and Otis Griffin; light heavyweight Travis Peterkin; super featherweight Bryant Cruz; lightweight Donte Strayhorn; middleweight Chris Galeano; and light welterweights Daniel Gonzalez and Ray Velez.
