Paulie Malignaggi vs Zab Judah is Confirmed
By Michael Fuentes, RCM Boxing Correspondent
Brooklyn, NY (October 5th, 2013)-December 7th, Paulie “The Magic Man” Malignaggi (32-5 7 KOs) will face Zab “Super” Judah (42-8 29 KOs) from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY. This fight includes two of the speediest guys in boxing with high boxing IQs and tremendous boxing ability. This fight is very evenly matched with Paulie having the edge in boxing agility and Zab having the edge in power. This is definitely a cross roads type of fight for both guys as Paulie is coming off a disputed SD loss to Adrian Broner and Zab is coming off a UD loss to Jr. WW kingpin Danny Garcia. I think the winner of this fight saves his boxing career and continues fighting the upper echelon of the division while the loser most likely becomes a gatekeeper or retires. Both men will have the home field advantage as Judah and Malignaggi are from New York.
I have to give the edge to Paulie because mentally he’s proven to be stronger than Zab in fights where Zab can’t over power and hurt his opponent early on. Zab did show his ability to keep his head in the fight against Garcia, actually fighting the last rounds better than the early rounds, when a younger Zab may have just given up, but in the end Paulie’s movement and boxing ability should be enough to get him a decision. On the other hand, has Zab’s newly found mental strength and power lead him to a decision over Paulie, we will see on the 7th of December.
