Middleweight Rising Star Lamar Russ Faces Dangerous Latif Mundy at Resorts Aqueduct

New York, NY (September 14th, 2013)– Lou DiBella Entertainment and 50 Cent’s SMS Promotions present Big Apple Boxing, an exciting card of boxing at Resorts New World Casino Aqueduct Raceway, at Jamaica, Queens, New York, on Monday, September 16, 2013, featuring 13-0 middleweight rising star Lamar Russ, 17-0 lightweight prospect Mark Davis against rugged Carlos Vinan, and 17-1 super bantamweight prospect Luis Orlando Del Valle on a nine bout card.
The rough tough Vinan, 10-10, who recently took contender Teon Kennedy the 10 round distance in Atlantic City, has a sturdy jaw and could present a long bout for Davis, 17-0, five knockouts, Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Del Valle, 17-1, Bayamon, Puerto Rico, lost a ten rounder to world ranked former world champion Vic Darchinyan last September, but is coming off a fifth round knockout of Andre Watts. His opponent, 26-11 Ira Terry of Memphis, Tennessee, has a padded record. Look for Del Valle, a world class fighter, to knockout Terry with three or four rounds at most.
Russ, The Boxing Cube, 13-0, seven knockouts, Wilmington Delaware, will face dangerous Philadelphia trial horse Latif Mundy, 10-7, four knockouts, who lost a majority decision to Patrick Majewski in Atlantic City last September in a dirty fight war marked by blood, with Majewski’s regular cut man not present to stop the gore, forcing Majewski to fight through it. Russ should win a ten round thriller, though look for Mundy to take the fight dirty and try to get away with any tactic he can. Mundy’s record is deceiving. He can fight a world class fight, in the toughest test for Russ to date in the Lou DiBella stable.
Scheduled to appear in four and six rounders on the Resorts World Casino boxing undercard will be: light heavyweights Travis Peterkin and Joseph Williams; middleweight Chris Galeano; light welterweights Shemuel Pagan and Ryan Martin; cruiserweight Joel Shojgreen, and female super bantamweights Heather Hardy and Jennifer Scott.
