Big Apple Boxing Comes To Jamaica Queens September 16. Is James Kirkland Next?

New York, NY (September 4th, 2013)– Lou DiBella Entertainment and 50 Cent’s SMS Promotions will present Big Apple Boxing, an exciting card of boxing at Resorts New World Casino Aqueduct Raceway, in Jamaica, Queens, New York, on Monday, September 16, 2013, featuring lightweight prospect Mark Davis and Super Bantamweight prospect Luis Orlando Del Valle in eight rounders in the co-main events on a nine bout card.
Of even greater interest and excitement in boxing circles leading into 50 Cent and Lou DiBella’s joint promotion is the still swirling rumor that 50 Cent might sign the hot and cold junior middleweight James Kirkland, who still enjoys widespread popularity and fan recognition. Kirkland’s contract with Golden Boy was deemed invalid by Federal Court Order by the Central District of California. Kirkland had signed a contract extension in 2011, but a judge deemed the contractual extension to be invalid, freeing Kirkland from his contract and making him a free agent.
Scheduled to appear in four and six rounders on the Resorts World Casino boxing undercard will be: light heavyweights Travis Peterkin and Joseph Williams; middleweight Chris Galeano; light welterweights Shemuel Pagan and Ryan Martin; cruiserweight Joel Shojgreen, and female super bantamweights Heather Hardy and Jennifer Scott.
