Brooklyn Brawl Fight Factory Arena Card Results

By Robert Brizel, Head Real Combat Media Boxing Correspondent- Ringside

At the Fight Factory Arena in Coney Island Brooklyn, Dmitry Salita’s Star of David Promotions and matchmaker Diana Rodriguez presented an exciting seven bout professional boxing card on Thursday evening, August 22, 2013, in Coney Island, Brooklyn, New York, with the famed Coney Island helicopter jump landmark illuminating the night sky outside in the distance. Though the Fight Factory Arena holds only 400 occupants for events like ‘The Brooklyn Brawl, a packed crowd came out to watch the card, with an added in the ring attraction, an entertainment show by Hip Hop artist Describe, and ring announcing provided by the great David Diamante. The event was rescheduled from its original date of July 30, 2013 (as indicated by the above poster) and its lineup of fighters was changed for the later date.

The excitement for the boxing event in the small house created crowd noise which made it difficult to hear Diamante, in particular due to two spectacular explosive knockouts scored by cruiserweight Jose Torres (no relation to the former world light heavyweight champion) and Brooklyn middleweight prospect Pete Reyes. In a wild no defense slugfest, Reyes got dropped by Juan Zapata right hand in the second round after getting batted around in the first, then came off the deck to land a power right hand of his own which knocked Zapata out cold for ten minutes. Zapata landed with a ‘bang!’ thud on his back, bouncing the suddenly awakened crowd to its feet in a standing ovation cheering ending.
