Newton The Butcher Kidd Headlines Boxing Explosion Part 2 Long Island City

New York, NY (June 6th, 2013)– Light heavyweight boxer and area promoter Ronson Frank’s Uprising Promotion will bring a nine bout card of boxing to Long Island City Queens, New York, on Friday June 14, 2013. Seven four round bouts will lead the card, followed by two six round bouts featuring the Susan Reno versus Vanessa Greco rematch.
In four round bouts: middleweight Akil Auguste battles Carlos Lopez; super bantamweight Jennifer Santiago battles Jennifer Scott; super bantamweight Trevis Hall will battle Jose Del Valle; light welterweight Daniel Gonzalez battles Anthony Smith; middleweight Pete Reyes battles Gustavo Medina; and cruiserweight Armin Mrkanovic will fight Eric George. A probable eight or ten round main event bout featuring bantamweight contender Elton Dharry of Guyana was scratched.
In the first six round bout, two New York City female flyweights will go at it as Vanessa Greco will fight a six round rematch against Susan Reno. Real Combat Media covered the event when Reno defeated Greco in a four rounder at the Staten Island Hilton on January 31, 2013. The female bouts will be two minute rounds.
In the six round main event, Bronx New York super middleweight Newton ‘The Butcher’ Kidd will face well known Flushing Queens ringer Borngod Washington. Records indicate 12 of Washington’s 15 opponents were undefeated when he fought them. This reporter has covered both fighters in the past. Although they both have losing records, the bout is a great matchup. Somebody has to win. The bout should prove exciting and interesting for the locals.
5 Star Banquet Hall is located at 13-05 42rd Avenue in Long Island City Queens, New York. Doors will open on Friday June 14, 2013, at 7 P.M., with the first bout at 7:30 P.M. Tickets are $60 general admission, and $100 for VIP seating.
