Good Move Rampage
Written by: Zach Heim
Quinton “Rampage” Jackson hasn’t been on much of a rampage lately, with three straight losses to Jon Jones, Ryan Bader and Glover Teixeira. His last convincing win was against Matt Hamill and before that, he got lucky in my eyes and won a split decision against Lyoto Machida. All of this, after losing a unanimous decision to Rashad Evens.
Rampage just signed with Bellator MMA and TNA Impact Wrestling. He says it was about the money but lets be honest, he just couldn’t hang in the UFC anymore.
I’m not saying Bellator is not a good company or does not have good fighters, because they do, but in reality their fighters are not at the level that most of the UFC fighters are at. Rampage may be making more money with Bellator and TNA, but honestly I think they are paying for his name and not so much his talent anymore. Although I do have to say he is the best fighter on the current Bellator roster unless, of course, Randy Couture comes out of retirement again. In which case, I still think even at 50 years old, soon to be 51, Randy would still beat Rampage.
That being said, I think this is a great move for Rampage because it will allow him to pursue acting, which he has said in the past that he would like to do. I also think it helps the entire sport to show that there are more places to go then just the UFC and get paid. I know there are other promotions out there, but really the only two consistently making headlines right now are the UFC and Bellator. So I think its good that Randy and Rampage kind of jumped ship over to Bellator. This shows some of the young and up and coming fighters that there is another promotion out there.
I am still kind of confused with the deal between Bellator and TNA wrestling though. Don’t get me wrong, I love wrestling and have watched it since I was five years old, but I just don’t understand the connection between the two and why they are teaming up. I mean first it was King Mo, now Rampage? I mean really? I just don’t get the point. I guess it has something to do with the Spike TV deal.
All in all good job Rampage, I think Bellator will be a much better fit for you and will help you get some of that intimidation back.
