WIBA World Champion Amanda Serrano Worthy of Better Opposition

New York, NY (May 8th, 2013)– WIBA Women’s International Boxing Association World Female champion Amanda Serrano, a former International Boxing Federation world title holder at super featherweight, is worthy of better opposition.
Serrano, who won her world title by second round knockout against a female fighter who had not lost in seven years, has quite a punch. Serrano has knocked out her last three opponents in the first round! Any takers here? Any promoters here?
Since Amanda is now fighting at 125 pounds featherweight limit, she should now unify the WIBA title against the winner of Melissa Hernandez versus Jelena Mrdjenovich World Boxing Council World Female Featherweight title rematch being held in Alberta, Canada on May 31, 2013, at Shaw Conference Centre.
Serrano could also opt to defend her WIBA female world title against Lindsay Garbatt or Jeannine Garside anyone available. I saw this because the female fighters seem to be ricocheting between 125 pounds and 135 pounds, going back and forth between featherweight, super featherweight and lightweight. Sadly, it just doesn’t seem today’s boxing promoters and managers have a great interest in female boxing for the most part.
This reporter ran into Amanda Serrano making an appearance in the ring recently with promoter Felipe Gomez of New Legend Boxing during the boxing card at Resorts Casino Aqueduct Raceway. It inspired thinking as to why promoters have passion for male boxing and MMA but rarely female boxing and MMA. Just look around, women buy tickets and par-per-view too. I think female athletics is exciting too, and is not just limited to female pro basketball. Female all-sports, I hope, will one day get the attention they deserve. With that, I hope and trust some promoter will sign the young Amanda Serrano (whose sister Cindy is also a champion fighter as well), promoter her correctly, and get her the recognition she truly deserves in the Continental Americas.
