Floyd Will Knock Out Canelo Alvarez, The First Worldwide Prediction for Sept 14
By Robert Brizel, Head Real Combat Media Correspondent
New York, NY (May 31st, 2013)–Floyd Mayweather Jr. versus Manny Pacquiao missed the boat. Never one to wait for the next promotion to become a sinking ship, Floyd Mayweather Jr. will now step up to the plate and decide in the ring once and for all who the best fighter in the world is. Is it Floyd, or is it the red haired Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez? Floyd by kayo.
On September 14, 2013, at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino in las Vegas, Nevada, Floyd Mayweather Jr., age 36, will challenge 23 year old World Boxing Council and World Boxing Association Super World Light Middleweight champion Saul Canelo Alvarez of Juanacatlan, Jalisco, Mexico in what promises to be the biggest money boxing fight ever promoted for all-time to this point, going back to Jack Johnson versus James Jeffries, all the way back to the beginning of bare knuckles boxing time. Who will win? The promotion will win first, because the public demands the bout right now. An aging Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather may not be a ‘pretty boy’ much longer, so the time to do this incredible bout is right now.
Since conditioning is not an issue, the winner of this bout will be the fighter who carries out the game plan correctly and is able to maintain it into the later rounds.

Floyd has nine years and 14 world title bouts more experience than Alvarez. Canelo has youth on his side. Floyd will do like he did with Robert Guerrero and establish the tempo from the outside, landing punches in bunches. Alvarez will struggle to try to cut off the ring and will get hit as he comes in and slugs in out with Floyd.
Experience will prevail in this high level bout as Floyd will knock out Canelo late in the tenth round to win Canelo’s two world titles. A closer fight, but Floyd will win hands down. It won’t be because Canelo is or is not better, just that Floyd will execute the game plan. Canelo won’t be easy to shake, and may fight his way inside to win several of the earlier rounds. Coming forward with pressure and trying to cut off the ring against Floyd won’t be an easy matter for Alvarez like previous opponents. Floyd might back Canelo up, and power shot Canelo’s face into a mess.
Floyd should box patiently, and avoid the trap Billy Conn walked into after outboxing Joe Louis for 12 rounds, then getting cocky and going for the knockout after having the fight won on the cards. Floyd will have to patiently break Canelo’s defenses down. Canelo is simply too young and too inexperienced for a fight of this level. Canelo couldn’t get rid of Lanardo Tyner for 12 rounds. Tyner felt he won the bout but got robbed in Canelo’s Mexico. Tyner has a good case for his argument, and Floyd Mayweather Jr. is a whole other level and caliber of fighter than Tyner.
It isn’t as easy as it looks, folks. Beware Canelo fans, Floyd’s adventure into the ring with Canelo isn’t a social call. Floyd likes a good show, so I expect him to take his time. But in the ‘money’ rounds 10, 11 and 12, Floyd will close the show before the decision is reached by kayo. If it does reach a decision in a thriller somehow, in that case the cards should be close, but they won’t be as Floyd will get the cards anyway. Showtime has too much at stake, and I don’t knock see Canelo knocking Floyd out.
Knockdowns on either side are a high possibility, depending on who executes their game plan first and best, and who gets careless. My money’s on Floyds but it’s anybody’s guess who the bookies will like in terms of odds come fight night in Las Vegas. Floyds might be a slight underdog, and a full and his money are soon parted for those who bet on Canelo, who is, at his best, overhyped, and not worth more as a box office draw than Manny Pacquiao. Canelo he will get more than Pacquiao would have gotten because both fighters are unbeaten. I don’t see Canelo versus Floyd going the distance, but I do see a high stakes high money thriller of a bout, bound to end with fireworks, on that note see you at the fight and enjoy the show.
