GRADOVICH THE NEW IBF FEATHERWEIGHT CHAMP OVER DIB AT FOXWOODS

Mashantucket, Connecticut ( March 2, 2013)–Billy ”The Kid” Dib defended his IBF featherweight title against Evgeny Gradovich. The bout was scheduled for 12 rounds and went to the distance. Both fighters came ready to fight and fought a technical fight. The judges scored it 114-112 for Dib, 114-112 for Gradovich and 114-112 for Gradovich. Winner by split decision Gradovich.
In the beginning rounds both fighters came out strong and were getting their rhythm down. Round 3 redness appeared near the left eye of Gradovich. Round 4 continued with the action while both fighters were throwing combination after combination, jab after jab. Gradovich face is a bright red as can be. Round 7 Gradovich landed left hook on Dib and continued the action. Round 8 a point was deducted for both fighters for holding. Towards the end of the round Gradovich aggressively went after Dib, his prey. Round 11 Gradovich landed a strong right hook on Dib. Following both fighters each landed hooks and it appeared that they were both going down but the bell saved them. Round 12, both fighters are getting tried. Dib landed a left hock on Gradovich. Blood is dripping near the eye of Dib. By the end of the bout both trunks were bloody. Both fighters fought a great fight.
Dib decreases his record to 35-2-0 and Gradovich increases his record to 16-0-0.
In the co-main event, Willie Nelson out of Ohio defended his NABF light middleweight title and came ready to fight his opponent Michael Medina of California. The bout was scheduled for 10 rounds but Nelson only needed 1 round to complete his task and get a TKO victory over Medina. Medina was caught first with a right hand, was dropped to the canvas. Then immediately was caught with a right hook. The time, 2 minutes into round 1.
Nelson advances his record to 20-1-1 while Medina decreased his record to 26-4-2.
Undercard bouts of the evening:
Welterweights – Jimmy Williams vs. Raynard Younger. Winner by UD Williams. All 3 judges scored it 40-36.
Junior welterweights – Luis Olivares vs. Rafael Munoz. Winner by TKO Olivares. For Olivares pro debut it was an impressive one. Olivares came to fight. The referee Johnny Callas stopped the bout 1 minute, 38 seconds into round 1. Winner Olivares by TKO. Looking forward to see what Olivares does in the future.
Bantamweights – Shelly “Shelito’s Way” Vincent vs. Mikayla Nebel. This fight was scheduled for 6 rounds but it was changed to 4. Winner by UD Vincent. All 3 judges scored the fight 40-36.
Featherweights – Luis “KO King” Rosa vs. Jhovany Collado. Rosa brought Collado down to his knees right before end of round one. Round 2 Rosa appears to have a welt growing near his left eye. Winner by UD Rosa. All 3 judges scored it 80-71.
Super lightweights – Ryan “Polish Prince” Kielczewski vs. Gil Garcia. Winner after 8 rounds by UD Kielczewski. Judges scored it 80-72; 80-72 and 79-73.
Friday Night Fights on ESPN2 was promoted by DiBella Entertainment and SMS Promotions in front of fight fan crowd at MGM Grand Theater at Foxwoods, Mashantucket, Connecticut.
