Anthony Mundine v Daniel Geale II Recap

By: Eli Garcia

Sydney, Australia (January 30th, 2013)–Daniel Geale tasted sweet revenge over Anthony Mundine and retained his IBF Middleweight title at the Sydney Entertainment Centre. The real deal Geale dominated the majority of the 12 rounds, keeping Mudine off balance.

The last time these two met was in May of 2009, where Mudine won a controversial split decision in what was considered a close fight. Mudine caught Geale backing up with a left hook. The knockdown proved the difference in the fight.

Geale: “It was tough; it was exactly what we expected. Anthony came prepared and he gave me a great fight. It was hard there towards the end, but I had to dig deep.

Geale came in to the fight with a good game plan that had Mudine uncomfortable throughout the night. Unfortunately, Mudine showed very little power but, must be given credit for hanging in there and fighting until the final bell.

Earlier in the night, American Kimbo Slice scored a knockout victory over Shane Tilyard while Lauryn Eagle beat Nadine Brown in the first fight of the night.
