New York, NY (December 19th, 2012)– On Wednesday night, December 19, 2012, at Roseland Ballroom in New York City, Lou DiBella Entertainment will present an 11 bout card featuring an eight round bout with light welterweight Gabriel ‘Tito’ Bracero and a ten round bout featuring light heavyweight Will Rosinsky. Six unbeaten prospects will appear in four round bouts, followed by a six rounder with super featherweight Allen Benitez, an eight rounder with welterweight Ionut Dan Ion, and an eight rounder with lightweight Ivan Redkach.
Bracero, 20-1, Brooklyn, New York, has no power without extra training and as such as only three knockouts on his record. His chin and heart were tested last January when former world champion DeMarcus Corley knocked Bracero down in rounds two, three and five, and outboxed him for the better part of the first six rounds. Bracero came back over the last four rounds, knocking Corley down in the eighth, but lost the ten rounder on points. Since the, in June 2012 and October 2012, Bracero has won eight round decisions over Jermaine White and Eric Cruz.
Lou DiBella will put Bracero in against veteran Johnny ‘The Lumberjack’ Edwards, 15-5, eight knockouts, Jacksonville, North Carolina. Do not underestimate the record of Edwards. It is deceiving. Edwards ruined the comeback of former World Boxing Association Featherweight champion Freddie Norwood by defeating Norwood by both disqualification and seventh round knockout for the count. Edwards also has a ten round decision loss to Elio Rojas, who went on to win the World Boxing Association featherweight championship. Edwards was stopped in the first round by Yuriorkis Gamboa, but went the distance in losses to Jason Litzau, Carlos Rivera and Ty Barnett.
To defeat Edwards, Tito has to get his jab moving early in combinations and keep moving so as not to offer a punch target to his opponent, which he usually does. Since Tito lacks the power to take Edwards out, he will have to keep up a rapid volume tempo and outwork Edwards, while not offering Edwards a target. This should be a standard Tito Bracero bout fought on the outside. White can remain in the bout by throwing three and four combinations in bunches on the inside and breaking down Bracero’s defenses like he did in his seventh round knockout of ex-champion Freddie Norwood. DeMarcus Corley proved Bracero could be hurt powerfully and often inside.
Trainer Tommy Gallagher’s boxing workouts do not supplement the additional power training Bracero once received from physical conditioning specialist John Schaeffer in Pennsylvania, which enabled Tito to knock out Raymond Betancourt in New York City in July 2010. Neither White nor Bracero has power like Gamboa.
Predictions: Gabriel Tito Bracero will win by decision over Johnny Edwards, but it will be a very difficult fight. Light heavyweight Will Rosinsky will win by decision over Otis Griffin in a power shot festival in center ring. Technical boxing skill and jabbing ability favors Rosinsky in a technical points bout. Will has gone the distance witb Kelly Pavlik and Edwin Rodriguez and lost questionable decisions, but his chin was good. A knockout favors the more experienced Griffin, who at 35 years old, 24-10-2 with 10 knockouts, has twice as many bouts as the 16-2 Rosinsky.
