Ricky Hatton’s comeback is ruined by Vyacheslav Senchenko
By: Jon Campbell UK Correspondent

Manchester, UK– Tonight was a very tough night to be from Manchester. A very disappointing night in which Ricky ‘The Hitman’ Hatton’s red carpet comeback to the sport literally ended in tears following a 9th round body shot by former world champion Vyaschelav Senchenko.

It has been said that this was a close fight should it have gone the distance or even would of gone in Hatton’s favor by some. I have no idea what the scorecards would have said but in reality Hatton was far from getting the better of the Ukrainian, just as he was far from the Hatton we remember. This is coming from a Mancunian and a massive Hatton fan who expected a win. He was sluggish, slow and unable to avoid a large number of Senchenko’s jabs.

He gave an upsetting and emotional speech after the bout which is posted below, in which he states he is unsure about this being his last fight. I am almost certain this will be his last bout. If he cannot beat Senchenko, there is no point in him continuing as there is no way he could ever take on the top fighters in the division.

I wish him and his loved ones the very best and personally thank him for all the excitement he has brought me and our country, but now is the time champ, we will miss you.
