Nigel Benn to fight in Middlesbrough Farewell Show
By: Callum Meads
Middlesbrough, UK – Nigel Benn is set to feature in a farewell exhibition bout with former National Amateur Champion and local boxing promoter Tony Robinson. The fight is scheduled to take place on Saturday 8th December in an already packed out Eston Sports Academy. Despite the fight being confirmed less than two weeks ago, the event has managed to sell out all of it’s VIP tables, and is predicted to reach maximum capacity ahead of the fight night date. The local boxing event that is billed Pride & Respect, could not host a more suitable headline act, with Nigel closing out a 10 fight card that features local talent from all around the North East of England. The event is run by the European Boxing Federation in association with promoter Tony Robinson.
The Dark Destroyer has chosen to participate in three farewell fights across the UK, before he emigrates to Australia on the 17th of December. Hosting such a heroic and household name would come as an honour to any sports venue in the country, but for a small town in the North East of England, the accolade is sure to be magnified. Nigel’s decision to pick Middlesbrough as one of his 3 farewell shows is a true honour to the town and one that has most definitely been recognised by the people of Teesside. Nigel can expect a full house of passionate boxing fans, something he has been used to throughout his career.
The honour can come no bigger than for Tony Robinson. The accomplished amateur boxer from Middlesbrough will be sharing the ring with his childhood hero on his very own promotion. The local boxer will get to duke it out with the Dark Destroyer for three rounds, an experience that any fighter would dream to be apart of. The local boxing event has been going strong for 4 years and on December 8th, Pride & Respect will have it’s crowning moment.
Tickets are being sold individually at the price of £35, and can be purchased from Tony Robinson himself, who can be contacted on the details provided below. You will be able to enter the venue from 7pm onwards, with the first fight set to begin at 8pm. If you want to witness the closing chapter of this true sporting great, be sure to get your tickets quickly. This is a night of boxing that can not be missed.
