Manny Pacquiao vs. Juan Manuel Marquez 4 should be set for December 8th
By: Corey Quincy
Most likely there will be a 4th fight between future hall of famers and current top pound for pound boxers Manny “Pac Man”Pacquiao ( 54-4-2 ) and Juan Manuel ” El Dinamita ” Marquez ( 54-6-1 ) is finalized for December 8th of this year in Mexico City on HBO. This will be the fourth bout of what has been a one sided series, Both on paper, and in the mind of most fans. In all three fights between this dynamic duo we have seen Pacquiao throwing out a high workrate but struggling the land flush, and Marquez throwing that right hand that the talented Pinoy Southpaw simply cannot avoid. Marquez suffered three knockdowns in Round 1 in the first fight almost a decade ago. Most thought it was sealed in he’d loose to the young beast. But he kept getting up and he regrouped well to win the majority of the other rounds with excellent counter-punching and general fundamentals. This one was a very fair draw seeing Pacquiaos workrate which may have salvaged a few rounds – at least enough to go hand and hand with the knockdowns to give him that I suppose. But the 2nd was even more controversial as Marquez was only down once mid fight and fought pretty much the same as the first fight. Even that though while it was controversial it wasn’t nearly as bad as the most recent one, Which still angers many.
The last bout was really the only ” Robbery ” of the controversial trilogy. Marquez was doing well standing on the outside easily catching Pacquiao on the outside with that right hand. It was a no brainer, I had it 8 rounds to 4 for Marquez as I recall. He had maybe about 5 or 6 clear rounds while Pacquiao didn’t solidify more then one or 2. It was a bad decision. We all heard this already so why jabber on forever? Bottom line is even with Pacquiao ” Beating ” Marquez 2 times and drawing once they still have much unfinished business. Seeing as it could easily be 3-0, 2-1 for Marquez also.
My only reason for not being interested is the fact that Marquez has had difficulty picking up a win to the ” Pac Man ” in the past, But at least this is in Mexico City so no hometown advantage. At least it seems so as it has been reported as that so far but it might be premature. Marquez will need what ever advantage possibly. Being also nicknamed the “Mexicutioner” it is clear Pacquiao will never be able to defeat Marquez as he has just has a style that makes him simply a kryptonite to him. And this time it will be the same, as it was in 2003, 2008, 2011.
Pacquiao, 33, and Marquez, 39 have both fought once since their trilogy bout in Nov, 2011. Marquez in an unmemorable 12 round shutout decision win to Ukrainian Light Welterweight contender Sergey Fedchenko where he looked okay in gliding easily against the overmatched opponent. Pacquiao in a shocking loss to Timothy Bradley that showed his luck with judges may have faded a bit seeing as he outworked and outlanded Bradley well. I had it 116-112 for Pacquiao and most tell me that is a bit friendly. This somewhat tells me if Bradley can get a win to Pacquiao in a game but simply outclassed performance “El Dinamita” should, and for the sake of boxing better, get the verdict if he fights with the spirit and skill he did last time out.
Manny Pacquiao Vs. Juan Manuel Marquez 4 will if finalized as expected be on December 8th, again likely be in Mexico City. Ticket Sales, Weight class, Undercard and other smaller details will be announced by us RCM as they surface.
