Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao finally settle defamation suit
By: Anthony L. Gonzalez
Las Vegas — Finally after 3 years Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather have come to a pre trial agreement in the defamation case. Manny Pacquiao filed a case in 2009 after he was accused of taking performance enhancing drugs by Mr. Mayweather.
“The matter has been resolved,” Malcolm LaVergne who is Mayweather’s Sr. attorney said. “Any alleged terms of the resolution would be strictly confidential.
Last week Mayweather missed a court appearance and was ordered to pay the Pacquiao team $114,000 in an attempt to avoid questioning under oath.
This is one hurdle out of the way for a possible Mayweather vs Pacquiao superfight in 2013. Manny Pacquiao has also agreed to take random drug testing if this fight happens and to take 45% of a possible purse.
