News has arrived from the Nevada state athletic commission that Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. has been tested positive for marijuana. This has been announced following the loss of his WBC Middleweight title to Sergio Martinez on September 15th.

There are a number of possible outcomes to this development. Firstly, the potential rematch with Martinez may be jeopardised.

Secondly, the punishment he may face could be a fine or a ban from the sport for a certain period of time.

He may also lose a large portion of his 3 million dollar purse.

It is possible that should he have won on Saturday he would have been stripped of his title.

We wish Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. the best in his career and hope the loss and the result of this drugs test will not hold him back significantly as we look forward to seeing him in the ring once more.
