Las Vegas, Nevada – In a mild upset, late sub Willie “The Great” Nelson(18-1-1, 11 KOs) defeated Yudel Jhonson(12-1, 8 KOs) by a ten round unanimous decision. Jhonson was floored in the second round by a right hand but was able to recuperated and continue on. In the fourth round Jhonson returned the favor and knocked down Nelson. After the fourth round Nelson went on cruise control and was awarded the decision connecting sounding blows on Jhonson especially in the fifth. The Jr. middleweight fight scores were tallied at 95-94, 97-92, 97-92. The original opponent for Jhonson was Freddy Hernandez who pulled out of the fight because of an injury. Nelson took the bout on 11 days notice.
Badou “The Ripper” Jack (11-0, 8 KOs) was awarded an eight round split decision over fellow super middleweight Alexander Brand (17-1, 15 KOs). The decision did not sit well with Brand. Jack was troubled by Brands all-out attack. The scores read 77-75, 77-75 for Jack and 77-75 in favor of Brand.
