Marquez and Nava score victories in Mexico
By: Eliud Vazquez Torres
Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico – Former two division champion Rafael Marquez(41-7, 37 KOs) scored a TKO victory over former IBF featherweight champion Eric Aiken(16-9-1, 12 KOs) in the very first round. Aiken found himself on the ropes and Marquez unloaded combinations that floored Aiken. Aiken then got up from the knockdown but the fight was put to an end by referee Juan Jose Ramirez when Marquez continued his assault on Aiken. The time was 2:26.
WBA woman’s super bantamweight champion Jackie “Aztic Princess” Nava(27-4-3, 11 KOs) defeated Diana Ayala(12-7, 7 KOs) by a ten round unanimous decision. Nava’s overall boxing ability combined with her reflexes and powerful jab were too much for Ayala to handle. The judges all scored it 100-90. This bout was the main event of the evening.
