Hernandez Retains His Title over Cunningham

The IBF Cruiserweight Title fight featured Champion Yoan Pablo Hernandez and challenger Steve Cunningham in a rematch clash from October 2011.
Hernandez started out the early rounds being the aggressor attacking Cunningham with body-shots winning the rounds 1 and 3.
Round four: Cunningham seemed to to have found his rhythm and started to take control of the fight, until Hernandez caught Cunningham sending him to floor for the first knockdown of the fight. Cunningham still hurt from the shot Hernandez landed, staggered to his feet to be only knocked down again seconds later.
Round five: A better round for Cunningham, he was able to shake off the previous round and hurt Hernandez toward the end of the round.
Round six: We saw Cunningham being the aggressor and feeling the momentum shifting toward his side. He came out throwing more jabs and staying on his feet moving laterally winning the round by boxing Hernandez.
Round seven: started out with both fighter being cautious, not wanting to make any mistake. Cunningham was moving forward using his jabs and working the body when he was able to get inside the pocket. Hernandez was able to back-off Cunningham’s forward progress at times by moving slightly to the left and throwing a overhand right. The round ended with Cunningham walking Hernandez down and going to the body.
Round eight: Started out as a fast paced round for Cunningham since he could sense Hernandez tiring. Cunningham applied pressure working the body and his jab.
Round nine: Cunningham started to control the fight with his constant pressure over the champion Hernandez. Cunningham always on his feet keeping Hernandez moving to tire him out, as he continued to work his jab and the body of the current champion.
Round ten: The round was a close round to call with both fighters having their moments.
Round 11: Hernandez started out the round fast and aggressive but ended up fading just as quickly as he started. Cunningham on the other hand was able to capitalize on Hernandez’s lack of stamina as he was able to land multiple combinations as Hernandez would back-peddle.
Round 12: Hernandez once again came out fast but slowed down just as fast again. Cunningham was holding strong until Hernandez landed a hard left hand that hurt Cunningham in the last few minutes of the fight. Cunningham was hurt and staggering around the ring, Hernandez tried to put Cunningham away ended up tiring himself out instead.
Hernandez tired from throwing combinations as he tried to put the Cunningham away was caught by Cunningham by a hard right hand and hurt Hernandez send him staggering into the corner. Cunningham threw combinations trying to win back the round as it came to an end.
The judges awarded the fight to Yoan Pablo Hernandez by unanimous decision.
