ARUM TO MEET WITH PACQUIAO

Later this month promoter Bob Arum will be flying out to the Philippines to meet with boxing superstar and The Ring Magazine Champion Manny Pacquiao (54-3-2, 38), to discuss his next opponent. The list of potential opponents to chose from  will be WBA Super Welterweight Champion Miguel Cotto, WBA/WBO Lightweight Champion Juan Manuel Marquez, IBF/WBA Junior Welterweight Champion Lamont Peterson or division rival Tim Bradley.

Bob Arum represents 3 out of the 4 potential opponents for Manny Pacquiao, which would make the negotiations that much easier in the end.  Arum promotes Tim Bradley, WBA/WBO Lightweight Champion Juan Manuel Marquez and possibly WBA Super Welterweight Champion Miguel Cotto.  At this moment Miguel Cotto is considered to be a “Free Agent” but many speculate that he will sign with Bob Arum.

The list of opponents that Manny Pacquiao has to choose from is a good list, outside of fourth fight with Juan Manuel Marquez. In my opinion, a fourth fight between Pacquiao and Marquez is pointless since Manny Pacquiao has taken 2 out of the 3 fights. A fight with either Bradley or Peterson would bring some interest, espicially since Manny Pacquiao would be facing a young and hungry fighter in either Bradley or Peterson. The question will then be, is it PPV material and how much will the fans be charged?

The most logical opponent for Manny Pacquiao to face out of the list of potential opponents is, Miguel Cotto. Business wise it makes the perfect sense, Miguel Cotto already has a big following compared to Bradley and Peterson and stands to make the most money.
