UFC Vegas 120 Recap: Quillan Salkilld Shocks Mateusz Gamrot With First-Round Submission
Las Vegas, Nevada (August 9, 2026)– Quillan Salkilld just answered every question anyone had about him. Making his first UFC main event, the 26-year-old Australian needed just one round to strangle a legitimate top-10 lightweight, tapping out Mateusz Gamrot with a rear-naked choke at 4:25 of round one to headline UFC Vegas 120 at the Meta APEX in Las Vegas.
Salkilld Arrives
Nobody was quite sure what Salkilld would look like against a real step up in competition. Now everybody knows. The Perth product absorbed Gamrot’s early wrestling attempts, reversed back to his feet, then flipped the fight on its head with a takedown of his own. From there it was academic: back control, hooks in, choke locked, tap. It was Salkilld’s sixth straight win inside the Octagon, his fourth in a row by first-round finish, and his fourth straight Performance of the Night bonus. The lightweight division has a new problem to deal with.
Ferreira and Quarantillo Steal Fight of the Night
The co-main more than held up its end. Diego Ferreira out-landed Billy Quarantillo again and again over three rounds, cracking him with right hands that Quarantillo kept walking into. Quarantillo came on late trying to salvage it, but the judges had seen enough, scoring it 30-27 across the board for Ferreira. Both men walked away with an extra $100,000 for Fight of the Night.
Miller Wrecks Goff, Elkins Calls It a Career
Ty Miller stayed unbeaten at 8-0, battering Billy Ray Goff for three rounds before referee Jason Herzog finally stepped in with fifteen seconds left, earning Miller his second straight Performance of the Night bonus. On the featherweight undercard, Yadier del Valle needed just 35 seconds to knock out Darren Elkins in what the veteran has said will be the last fight of his career, a fitting final walk to the APEX cage for a fighter who spent over a decade in the Octagon.

Seven finishes across twelve fights, four extra $100,000 bonuses, and five more $25,000 checks for fighters who got the job done without taking home the top prize: Miles Johns, Juliana Miller, Jose Montanha, Diyar Nurgozhay and Yadier del Valle. UFC officials also confirmed that Gigi Canuto, Carol Foro and Billy Goff were taken to a local hospital as a precaution following their fights, with no further updates released.
