Las Vegas, Nevada (January 5th, 2024)– Cameron Dunkin of Las Vegas, who for over three decades managed the careers of many top contenders and 35 world champions, including Johnny Tapia, Danny Romero, Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis, Terence Crawford, Mikey Garcia, Diego Corrales, Jesse Vargas, Nonito Donaire, Kelly Pavlik, Timothy Bradley, Mikael Zewski and others, died in Las Vegas, Nevada, on January 2, 2024, at age 67 from the effects of longtime pancreas issue.
The Boxing Writers of America named Dunkin the boxing manager of the year in 2007.
A car finance manager from Phoenix, Arizona, Dunkin attended many amateur boxing tournaments, and was a spectacular talent scout of the second tier of amateurs. While he lacked the resources to sign Olympians, Dunkin went after the boxers he felt could and would go straight from amateur to professional, who were not on the Olympic trials hopeful road.
Philadelphia 24-3 junior middleweight Anthony Thompson was co-managed and trained by Derek ‘Bozy’ Ennis. Bozy Ennis would eventually involve Dunkin with his son Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis as he rose up the ranks form amateur to professional to world champion.
