Lethal Danny Little – Robert Brizel’s 2017 Ringer of the Year Award

Editorial By Robert Brizel, Head Real Combat Media Boxing Correspondent

Twas’ the night before Christmas, but actually not. In editorial reality, it was December 21, 2017, in Birmingham, England, actually. British ringer ‘Lethal’ Danny Little, whose five-year career as a super welterweight has led to a most undistinguished 6 wins, 39 losses and two draws for the Yorkshire fighter. Little, who never recorded a win over an unbeaten fighter (he has two draws with unbeaten Nathon Smith), suddenly ‘improved’ inability.

Little stopped unbeaten 7-0-1 West Midlands prospect Jordan Clayton at 1:23 of the fifth round with a cut eye, fighting a brilliant technical battle and breaking his opponent down. Actually, one wonders why the arranged loser, in the grand British tradition of the great Peter Buckley, suddenly decided he was going to win this bout.

There’s an old rumor that losers get paid one check to fight, and another check to lose. Ringer round the collar. BoxRec has Danny Little ranked 60 of 121 in the British 154 pound super welterweight rankings, proving BoxRec is not so stupid despite Little’s deceiving ‘record’. By virtue of Little’s suddenly improvement in his boxing ‘ability’, Little wins the worthless award for ringer of the year. His BoxRec ranking is not luck, and this sort of win could not be more obvious. Play it again, Sam. This reporter was not fooled.
