SHANNON BRIGGS VS. LUCAS BROWNE IS SET FOR THE WBA TITLE
New York, NY (November 1, 2016)– Shannon Briggs (60-6-1, 53 KOs) will be facing former WBA heavyweight champion Lucas “Big Daddy” Browne (24-0, 21 KOs) for the vacant World Boxing Association title next. The WBA belt was recently vacated by Tyson Fury. The date and venue will be determined shortly.
Browne confirmed the announcement on his Instagram earlier today.
The undefeated 37-year-old Browne is ranked #5 by the WBA, and he’s not fought since last March when he stopped WBA World heavyweight belt holder Ruslan Chagaev in the 10th round in a come from behind victory. Browne was on his way to losing that fight at the time.
The 44-year-old former 2 time world champion, Briggs is ranked #8 by the WBA despite the fact that he’s not beaten a contender since launching his two-year comeback to the sport in 2014.
