Golden Boy Super Lightweight Carlos Molina, 30, Has Heart Attack, Expected to Survive

Los Angeles, CA (June 7th, 2016)– Super lightweight contender Carlos Molina of Los Angeles, whose last ring appearance was a ten round split decision draw with Mercito Gesta, at Fantasy Springs Casino, in Indio, California, on April 30, 2015, has suffered a heart attack at age 30, but is expected to survive. Molina, represented by Golden Boy Promotions, is the older brother of boxers Javier Molina and Oscar Molina. Oscar lost in the tenth round to Jarrett Hurd last month on the Barclays Brooklyn card.

Molina posted what had happened on his Instagram and Facebook. The career future of Molina, 17-2-2 with seven knockouts, Norwalk, California, is in jeopardy, though Molina is expected to survive. The world ranked super lightweight California Carlos Molina is not to be confused with Chicago, Illinois Mexican American super welterweight Carlos Molina.

“Just want to thank all my friends and family for visiting & praying for me. Still can’t believe I had a heart attack at 30 yrs old! I’m feeling much better now. Just another battle I need 2 fight But I know God has a plan 4 me I ask if u guys can keep me & my family in ur prayers thanx in advance ‪#‎TeamMolina‬“.
