New York, NY (October 16th, 2014)– Female Junior Featherweight prospect Heather ‘The Heat’ Hardy hopes for a world championship opportunity sometime soon. In the meanwhile, Hardy, now 11-0, two knockouts, Brooklyn, New York, won a 10 round decision over 5-7-4 Crystal hoy of Las Vegas, Nevada, to win the vacant World Boxing Council International Junior Featherweight title in the main event of a six bout card at BB King Blues Club & Grill promoted by DiBella Entertainment on Wednesday evening, October 15, 2014.
In a clean female title bout refereed by Earl Brown with no holds during the contest, Hardy used jab combinations moving side to side to keep the come forward Hoy away all night. The shorter Hoy chased the rabbit like a fox, but Hardy had good legs and was no where to be found for the most part. Hoy landed a couple of good power shots here and there, but had no sustained attack. The bout went round and round in circles as Hoy could not catch Hardy or cut off the ring.
Hardy was warned once for low blows. Both fighters were in top condition. Hardy lacked the power to take out Hoy, so Hardy pursued a technical win on points. Hoy landed a fewe power shots to win round four, her best round. How one judge scored the bout a draw is a mystery. However, it should be noted female bouts have two minute rounds and can sometimes be difficult to score depending on the styles of the fighters. How gave a good accounting of herself, but the bout was not close.
Result: Heather Hardy Win Majority Decision 10 Crystal Hoy, Junior Featherweights
Hardy wins the vacant WBC International Junior Featherweight Title

In the eight round preliminary to the main event, 12-0 light heavyweight Travis Peterkin of Brooklyn won an eight round decision over trialhorse Otis Griffin, 24-16-2, Sacramento, California. Griffin loaded up and fought the bout looking for one punch, and for Peterkin to get tired. Peterkin’s mix of head and body jabs and power shots won the first seven rounds. Perhaps Griffin, who landed a few head shots in the final round, won that round. Griffin’s issue was whenever he landed a punch, he would grab and hold, or just not do anything. Griffin had no game plan and could not sustain an attack of any kind.
