Carl Iron Fist Davis in Chicago Comeback Against Johnnie White
By Robert Brizel, Head Real Combat Media Boxing Correspondent
Chicago, IL(July 12, 2013)– Heavyweight Carl ‘Iron Fist’ Davis has beat King Arthur Williams and Bert Cooper. Carl Davis has lost to Andy Ruiz Jr., Richard Carmack, Mateusz Masternak, DaVaryl Williamson, Travis Walker and Lamar Stephens.
Davis, 39, now 16-6, 12 knockouts, will try his luck against veteran Johnnie White, 29, now 22-4, 18 knockouts, Saint Martinsville, Indiana. White has been out of the ring since April 2011, when he lost a ten rounder to current Canadian Heavyweight champion Neven Pajkic. The eight round bout between Davis and White will be featured on a ten bout boxing card at Cicero Stadium in Chicago in July 26, 2013.
The big question is should Carl Davis be on a boxing card against an opponent ten years younger after getting knocked twice in the first round in his previous two professional bouts? Given, Johnnie White lost four of his last five bouts in the last four years, and has been out of the ring for over two years.
The answer is: Carl Davis is probably better off fighting in Chicago or at the Horseshoe Casino in Indiana close to home; and since his suspension in Nevada ends on July 24, 2013, his intended bout with Johnnie White is road legal. Should Carl be fighting without training with Sam Colonna and John Schaeffer? The answer is still probably not, but it is a free country. Carl’s major issue, according to one big time matchmaker, is that Carl Davis does not have a heart anymore. As to whether Davis can show anything more after a 49 day so called ‘training camp’ following the Andy Ruiz loss, it does not appear to be was enough time for recovery. Carl “Iron Fist’ Davis has enough time to prove everybody wrong.
Johnnie White has been in the ring with Dominic Guinn, Aaron Lyons, Seth Mitchell, Cliff Couser, Ray Lunsford and Joe Hanks. Since White was good enough to defeat Couser and Lyons over eight rounds, he should still be skilled enough to decision Davis over eight rounds. The matchup is a bit closer for both men, but White has the skills and experience to outpoint Davis at this point in the game for both combatants. Davis no longer has the right people in his corner, and for this bout, does not have enough time to prepare properly. Well the South side of Chicago is the baddest part of town, and if you go down there, you better just beware of a man named Leroy Brown. These days in Chicago there’s a twist, a bad dude named ‘The Iron Fist’. He used to stick and move and stood his ground. Now he keeps getting knocked out, and he should get out of town. The Iron Fist ain’t the baddest man in Chicago no mo’ you see, cause Iron Fist ain’t the fighter he used to be.
