Vinny Maddalone Stops 324 Pound Richard Carmack in Three

By Robert Brizel,  Head Real Combat Media Correspondent

Huntington, NY (May 12th, 2013)– Queens, New York Heavyweight Vinny Maddalone, 39, has knocked out a pretender in three rounds for the second time in five months. In December 2012, Maddalone knocked out Byron Polley, a 25 win fighter. In the main event of Star Boxing’s ‘Rockin’ Fights’ card at the Paramount Theatre in Huntington, Long Island, New York, on May 11, 2013, Maddalone stopped 12-0 pretender Richard ‘Silverback’ Carmack, a 324 pound bowling ball, at 2:57 of round three.

Maddalone, now 37-8, 28 knockouts, weighed 229 pounds and was able to move around the ring and attack the limited Carmack at will, who look menacing in appearance but appeared reluctant to open up with any offense. It took three rounds of consistent body work, using lefts to the body and then rights to the head, for Maddalone to break down his the beefy target. Carmack outweighed Maddalone by 95 pounds, and for Carmack the extra weight was too much to overcome when Maddalone cut off the ring and landed power shots on Carmack, now 12-1, 10 knockouts, at will. A hard right finally sent a battered and broken Carmack into the ropes where the bout was stopped by referee Tony Chiarantano.

It was the first time in Maddalone’s career he fought an opponent who weighed 320 pounds, and his greatest weigh disparity with an opponent, 95 pounds, since Vinny Maddalone began his career in 1999. Maddalone weighed 231 to Joe Lenhart’s 316 pounds, a weight disparity of 85 pounds, when he stopped Lenhart in June 2004.
