Vitali Klitschko faces Manuel Charr in a controversial bout this weekend
By: Corey Quincy
Heavyweight WBC Champion Vitali ” Dr. Steelhammer ” Klitschko ( 44-2-0 ) of the Ukraine will face undefeated Lebanon-German contender Manuel ” Diamond Boy ” Charr ( 21-0-0 ) on Saturday in a highly criticized and controversial bout. This is because Charr hasn’t fought anyone to earn him this shot. And even in his fights that were somewhat notable he wasn’t at all publicized and looked very… blah. Nothing stands out about him really. The guy was going through hell with a far faded British fighter
Danny Williams, Cut, recently rocked when he came forward with one small flurry that lead to what was in my opinion one of the worst stoppages in a while. After that he beat a journeyman
Taras Bydenko in a slow, close decision.
Vitali has fought good opponents for years in Chris Arreola, Tomasz Adamek, Dereck Chisora among others and can be aloud an easy fight once in a blue moon but it is said if he gets elected to congress later this year in his native Ukraine he will retire.
” So this is what you could very well be leaving us with, Vitali? ” is what is going through most fans heads. An easy, unmemorable fight with a very possibly below top 20 inexperienced and unknown fighter? When while your division isn’t packed you could go out with a bang against maybe 2 time champion
David Haye, Bulgarian contender Kubrat Pulev, Alexander Povetkin, Seth Mitchell or maybe even one of the undefeated British prospects David Price or Tyson Fury? And anyone who does say this I can’t blame you, 99% of you haven’t seen Charr so I guess a case at first glance may be made ” You haven’t seen him, you don’t know him. “. But in this situation this being the case is unfavorable. He is really nothing special it is very clear to me.
Vitali has adapted to a pretty lazy style as he has aged. That will keep Charr alive for a bit maybe. I Predict Charr will be trying to get in and pressure him and try to land body shots like Chisora did. But he doesn’t have the power or the mental strength to come forward energy and force Chisora had to at least give a fight for 12, or even close to the power to stop him. So I don’t predict his attempts at an offensive attack will be successful. Again he’ll be stuck getting cut up as he does easily by Vitali’s jab until he gets broken down and goes down from a long and painful all out beating. Likely later in the fight I pick Vitali Klitschko by late Technical Knock out unless he has suddenly badly faded, Even though he is 42 and has gotten slower it would have to have gotten much worse for me to pick a guy like Charr to win against him. tell me your prediction in the comments section of this page below!
