Usyk vs. Dubois
USYK VS. DUBOIS 2 WEIGH-IN, PRESSER, MEDIA WORKOUT & BETTING ODDS

London, UK (July 18th, 2025)–A 203 million dollars purse, and probably more, will be at stake at Wembley Stadium on Saturday, July 19, 2025, in the main event, as Oleksandr Usyk and Daniel ‘Dynamite’ Dubois rematch for the undisputed World Heavyweight title. The Ring, WBA, WBC, WBO, IBF and IBO World Heavyweight titles will be at stake. Usyk was forced to relinquish the International Boxing Federation World Heavyweight title belt before his rematch with Tyson Fury, and Dubois subsequently won the vacant IBF belt. The lineal World heavyweight title will be at stake on the six bout DAZN live televised pay-per-view card.

Usyk is the betting line favorite, listed between -300 and -460, depending on the sportsbook.

Dubois is the underdog again, with the betting line at between +235 and +300. However, those odds could close somewhat in the remaining hours before fight time.

The southpaw world champion Usyk, 23-0 with 14 knockouts, Oxnard, California by way of Simferopol, Crimea, Ukraine, age 38, is predicted to win. Knockdowns could affect scoring. Usyk landed 179 of 243 punches, and 106 of 212 power shots, in the Tyson Fury rematch. Dubois was knocked down three times by Kevin Lerena, and suffered a broken orbital bone dislocated left eye socket and nerve damage against Joe Joyce.

Usyk is the most technically sound fighter since Rocky Marciano. Usyk always seems to confidently find a way to win, and seems to get better with time.

Usyk’s lateral footwork ability, his increase in muscle mass and his jab and clinch ability and critical key factors in advancing his cause at age 38. Usyk had previously hinted of a return to the cruiserweight division, when Dubois called Usyk out for the rematch and Usyk accepted the challenge.

Dubois, 22-2 with 21 knockouts, Greenwich, London, United Kingdom, landed 79 of 196 punches overall against Anthony Joshua. While Dubois is consistent, Usyk landed several percentage points more of punches, and that slight edge in technical ability will enable Usyk to break down Dubois. After getting knocked out by Joyce and Usyk previously, and dropped three times by Lerena, Dubois’ chin is a question mark. Dubois will have to crack the Usyk defense, which will not reveal any weaknesses the second time around. Dubois should fall late, though the early rounds, specific the first six or seven rounds, could be interesting.

Dubois has knockout power and body shot strength, as evidenced by the body shot ruled a low blow which took Usyk down in the first bout with Dubois. Since then, Dubois stopped Jarrell Miller late in the tenth round, stopped Felip Hrgovic on cuts in the eighth round, and knocked out Anthony Joshua with superb power in five. The ‘Dynamite’ is there, which would force an older Usyk to improve his power over the last encounter. While not making a prediction, this reporter finds it hard to believe, given the explosiveness of both combatants, that a decision would result, though it is possible.

Given Dubois’s knockout power moving forward, Usyk will either have to back Dubois up with superior ring generalship or use superior lateral movement to avoid providing Dubois with any kind of a target.

In the preliminary bout to the main event, WBC Silver Heavyweight champion Lawrence Okolie is predicted to knock out Kevin Lerena, and make a case for the right to fight the winner of Usyk-Dubois II. When Okolie, a former world cruiserweight and bridgerweight champion, shows up to fight, his appearance is not a social call. This could be a nasty slugfest reminiscent of George Foreman versus Ron Lyle while it lasts, edge to Okolie in this sort of bombs away bout, while it lasts.

The IBF Inter-Continental Light Heavyweight bout between 11-0 champion Daniel Lapin, a southpaw from Kiev, Ukraine, vs. 11-0 Southampton CBC Commonwealth champion is predicted to defeat Lewis Edmondson.

Super lightweight prospect and 2024 Olympic Bronze Medalist Lasha Gurulli of Georgia is favored to win by a six-round unanimous decision over 7-1 James Francis of Liverpool.

Super lightweight southpaw 5-0 Prince Aadam Hamed of Dubai, United Arab Emirates, is favored to win by stoppage or knockout over 3-24 journeyman Ezekiel Gregores, an Argentinian fighting out of Palma de Mallorca, Spain.  22-0 unbeaten but unknown Vladislav Sirenko, a Ukranian heavyweight fighting out of Staten Island, New York, is favored to win over 9-1 Solomon Dacres of Warley, West Midlands, United Kingdom in the opening bout.
