Newark, NJ (April 1st, 2025)– In the main event of a six-bout card at Robert Treat Center Ballroom in Newark, New Jersey, promoted by Juana Edmonds and Edmonds Promotions, on Saturday night, March 29, 2025, Anthony Johns won the vacant NBA National Boxing Association Americas regional flyweight title with an eight-round unanimous decision over Delvin McKinley.

Johns, now 10-1 with six knockouts, Newark, New Jersey, to the cheers of the local supporting Newark capacity crowd, was smaller than McKinley, 11-5-1 with 11 knockouts, New Orleans, Louisiana. McKinley, riding a seven-bout winning streak, swung for the rafters, with 11 knockouts in his 11 wins. Johns, though, waged a meticulous inside power shot war, using carefully placed body shots and head shots with power to win almost every round.

The bout featured a great deal of wrestling and holding, more reminiscent of a 19th-century bout than a 21st-century bout. Johns, smaller than his opponent, had to maintain a tight defense while getting inside Rocky Marciano style. McKinley, with wild eyes and great determination, showed up in top condition and came in to win. However, he was too wild and missed most of his power shots, and he tired down the stretch.

Result: Anthony Johns Won in 8 rounds over Delvin McKinley at Flyweight

Scoring: 80-72, 79-73, 79-73 Johns. Real Combat Media scored it 80-73 for Johns.

Clean bout. No knockdowns. Referee: Sparkle Lee NBA Supervisor: Damon Gonzalez

Robert Treat Center Ballroom Newark Undercard Bout Results

Raul Garcia No Contest in three rounds with Andre Sherard, Junior Middleweights (1:21)

Sherard twisted his right ankle back peddling after getting hit by a Raul Garcia body punch. Sherard went down from the twisted ankle, not from the punch, and could not continue.

Alexis Rodriguez Santiago won in six rounds over Cristian Perez, Super Bantamweights

Scoring went 58 to 56 across the board for Rodriguez—a close, hard-fought bout.

Ghandi Romain won by knockout in two rounds over Jonathan Hernan Godoy at Welterweight.

Romain’s body shots sent Godoy to the canvas twice in round two, the second time for the count at 2:16.

Jasai Kirkpatrick (Pro Debut) won by technical knockout in the first over Anderson Briceno, Super Lightweights (2:06). Brisceno was down twice in the first. The mismatch then halted.

Jorge Gonzalez-Sanchez won by split decision over Luis Morales at Super Flyweight.

Sanchez was knocked down Morales in the fourth round, who got up and held till the final bell. Morales was awkward in movements and hard to hit. Sanchez had a 10-8 round in round four and a split decision resulted. 38-37, 38-37 for Sanchez, 38-37 for ‘Bazooka’ Morales. A rematch could prove interesting, as Morales would have won the decision without the knockdown.
