Los Angeles, Ca (August 9, 2014) –- Chael Sonnen received a 2 year suspension by the Nevada State Athletic Commission for 2 failed drug tests.  According to ESPN, he agreed not to fight in any jurisdiction during this period.   Sonnen though believed this did not apply to grappling tournaments since it did not fall under the jurisdiction of state athletic commissions.  The NSAC contended that it did and threatened to take action against Sonnen including possible fines in the hundreds of thousands.  Metamoris issued a statement that no-gi events were not included in the suspension, as well as the fact that they (Metamoris) does NOT drug test its athletes.  Ralek Gracie (Metamoris founder) stated that PED’s does not give an advantage in its events and allowed Sonnen to compete.

Sonnen (an accomplished MMA fighter with a background in Greco-Roman wrestling) did compete against Andre Galvao (an accomplished Judo and BJJ practitioner).  Sonnen would lose to Andre Galvao via rear naked choke.

Former UFC Heavyweight champ Josh Barnett (Catch Wrestler and Judo practitioner) defeated ADCC winner Dean Lister via neck crank (kesa gatame).  This would give Josh Barnett the Metamoris 4 heavyweight title.

The alleged “Secret Match” of Baret Yoshida vs. Jeff Glover would end in a draw.

Former M-1 champion Vinny Magalhaes fought to a draw with Keenan Cornelius.

Garry Tonon beat Kit Dale via guillotine choke.
