Boots Ennis Wins WBA World Super Welterweight Title in 118 Seconds

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, (October 13th, 2025)–  “I’m at 154 pounds. I did what I had to do. Bring them names. I went up and I got stronger. 154 (pounds) is my division. That’s next (Vergil Ortiz),” noted Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis after his latest win, now 35-0 with 31 knockouts, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

“He’ll destroy Vergil Ortiz! This guy is at another level. You’ve got eight, ten years of greatness in this man. He’s gonna go over. He’ll destroy them all at 160. Then he’ll go to 168. Jaron Ennis is the future of boxing. Sign the contract! We’re ready! This guy is gonna destroy everybody!” noted Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn.

In the DAZN main event at Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis knocked down Uisma Lima twice, then trapped him in a corner and finished him off at 1:58 of the first round, winning the interim World Boxing Association World Super Welterweight title, and making a statement in his debut at 154 pounds. Lima, 14-2 with 10 knockouts, Porta, Portugal, got sent home faster than he arrived. Lima came at Boots aggressively, rather than defensively. Boots simply counterpunched and cut Lima down immediately, finishing him off quickly.

Ennis proved he was worthy of better opposition, while at the same time, his statement might continue to scare off major opposition and create a new lack of opponents in his new division. However, Ennis has 35 pro bouts, while Lima has only 16. Given the difference in professional experience, the bout emerged as a mismatch.

In the preliminary bout to the main event, Italian heavyweight Guido Vianello, Las Vegas, Nevada, by way of Rome, Italy, knocked out visiting Canadian Alexis Barriere for the full 10 count at 26 seconds of the fifth round. Gianello rises to 14-3-1 with 12 knockouts, while southpaw Barriere fell to 12-1 with 10 knockouts, Quebec City, Canada. Vianello, 6’6″ and 247.5 pounds, is a huge heavyweight, and Barriere, 6’4″ and 237 pounds, might have been faster on his feet, but the edge in size and power went to Vianello and it showed.

Vianello came forward with hard power shots and dropped Barriere with a short right uppercut near the end of the round. Barriere beat the count, but looked close to finished. Vianello stepped to the left, and Barriere stepped to the right for the first few rounds as both fighters jockeyed for key tactical advantage. Vianello’s straight right hand proved the difference in the bout.
