IWBF World Super Featherweight Champion Ronica Jeffrey Interview

By Robert Brizel, Head Real Combat Media Correspondent

White Plain, NY (May 26th, 2013)–Real Combat Media had a brief exclusive interview with new International Women’s Boxing Federation Super Featherweight champion Ronica Jeffrey in the ring following her ten round decision win over former WBC world champion Olivia Gerula of Canada to win the vacant IWBF world title in the main event at Westchester County Center in White Plains, New York, May 24, 2013.

Ronica is currently ranked the number three female super featherweight in the world on BoxRec.

Real Combat Media: “Ronica, Congratulations on becoming a women’s world champion. Olivia Gerula, the opponent you just beat, is a former world champion known for coming forward with pressure and trying to fight her way inside. You had height and reach advantage. What was the game plan you used to beat her?”

Ronica Jeffrey: “I knew she (Gerula) was coming forward, so I just kept moving and outboxed her.”

Real Combat Media: “Ronica, you are a superior technical fighter. You have only one knockout in your 13 wins, in your third bout against Angel Gladney. Gerula has only three knockouts in her 29 pro bouts. Since neither you or Gerula are knockout artists, how did you approach a fighter like Gerula? What is your fighting style?”

Ronica Jeffrey: “I am more of a boxer puncher than I am a banger.”

Real Combat Media: “Where do you position yourself when you fight?”

Ronica Jeffrey: “I fight a little bit on the inside, (then) a little bit on the outside, what I do best.”
