STYLEMAKEFIGHTS.COM/ CHRIS ALEXANDER – IMPERSONATES THE MEDIA & STEALS BOXER’S LIKENESS TO PROMOTE HIS CLOTHING BRAND

Roselle Park, NJ (November 15th, 2015)– I am writing this to inform the boxing media, boxing promoters, credential agencies, current boxers and the entire boxing community of an individual named Chris Alexander. Chris Alexander is affiliated with a brand called stylemakefights.com which sells boxing clothing. Mr. Alexander was also a former video reporter correspondent for our site, realcombatmedia.com. His duties were to record videos for us, write previews, recaps, update our Instagram and provide videos for a You Tube channel. The owner of that channel, who used to work with RCM, sent us his letter of resignation from the press in October to start working with the clothing company, SMF.
Mr. Alexander was dismissed of his duties on September 14th, 2015 for unprofessional conduct. Mr. Alexander also sent us a resignation request on September 19th, 2015 by his facebook account. At the time, we assumed Chris would not be attending any more boxing media events and work solely on his clothing brand.
The reason Chris was removed from the boxing media was because of his unprofessional behavior at events. The unprofessional behavior included constantly leaving his assigned area to take photos with all the fighters. Not having a laptop to cover the majority of his events. Constantly sending in late recap articles and late incomplete video submissions from his phone. He also missed many press deadline in regards to covering events. Mr. Alexander kept complaining that the media directors and promoters were not respecting him and that they were giving him poor seating at these events.
He then took photos and posted them to his social media to state each fighter was supporting his brand. In many cases he would steal the fighter’s or promoter’s likeness and state they were his future business partners or they were part of his brand. We constantly kept telling Mr. Alexander to stop taking these photos at events, remove the false endorsements of these boxers from his social media and stop “using” them for free advertising purposes. In most cases, you have to pay these boxers to advertise to endorse your clothing brand. Chris decided the free advertising from media events was for his own personal benefit. He uses the hard working boxer’s sweat, blood and tears for free advertising in order to gain monetary benefits for his brand. This is unethical and this is not fair to any boxer that was brave enough to step in the ring.
After Chris left the boxing media, he continued to attend media events under the guidance of the you tube channel mentioned above. Chris decided to attend the Matthysse vs. Postol press conference which was open to only official media members. As soon as I found out he was attending these press conferences by illegally trespassing; I contacted Magna Media and Golden Boy Promotions to let them know he was no longer a member of the media. I also contacted Mr. Alexander and told him to please stop attending these events illegally. However, the next day he continued to attend the weigh-in media event and was denied access by Golden Boy Promotion’s security staff. We take our press responsibilities, our brand integrity and press privileges very seriously.
On November 4th, 2015, Chris decided to attend another event by impersonating the press which was the Miguel Cotto media workout at The Wildcard Gym. Real Combat Media links were used in the description box on the you tube videos below.
In closing, we ask Mr. Alexander to stop using our brand, Real Combat Media to attend press events. He has no regards for the integrity and reputation of our brand or the boxers. We also ask Mr. Alexander to stop using high profile boxers and promoters for free advertising to sell clothes for stylesmakefights.com. We wish nothing but the best for his clothing brand and wish him success for the future. However there is a right way and a wrong to do conduct business. Fighters deserve to get paid for their likeness and boxing media members work very hard on a daily basis to deliver the readers boxing content. Any member of the boxing media should not have any seats or views taking from them by a person who is not in the registered media.
